An innovative collaboration between famous European and Chinese applied research organizations and socio-environmental-marketing experts is at the heart the NoAW project. Objective: developing eco-design and implementing new processes to convert agro-waste into viable value chains.
The basic principle of the NoAW project is to consider mostly unavoidable and continuously generated agro-waste biomass as a valuable resource, able to be fully converted into sustainable bio-energy, bio-fertilizers and bio-chemicals by the use of cascading processes.
During a 2-day workshop held in Roma two weeks ago, the NoAW consortium determined mechanisms to guarantee that every work package interacts with the others towards the same goal. For this purpose, territorial pilot cases have been pre-identified as focal points for every work-package in France, Italy and Serbia. Early valorization potentials were detected for co-products from the wine and beef production sectors.
