E-Waste business blueprints and tools

Off-grid solar – the segment that has provided electricity to over 420 million people in the past decade, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, has also been an industry championing value chain circularity. 

Servicing remote areas and price-sensitive customers, in locations where recyclers are scarce, the industry faces acute challenges with product collection and recycling at end of life. Yet, eager to improve the industry’s e-waste management, GOGLA, the Global Off-Grid Lighting Association, has commissioned Sofies with an e-waste management blueprint.

Working closely with industry participants, Sofies designed a set of operational tools and frameworks for off-grid solar companies to evaluate, plan, and implement sounder and safer e-waste practices. The industry blueprint allows off-grid solar companies of all sizes to manage their e-wate efficiently and effectively, safeguarding both the environment and the health of their communities.
