Summary: City logistics is often assimilated to nuisance in terms of traffic jam, noise, pollution, or visual impacts of storage and handling infrastructure. However, the proper functioning of these activities can greatly contribute to the development of urban areas in a sustainable development perspective.

As part of the One Planet Living® sustainable neighborhoods programme, WWF Switzerland mandated Sofies to better understand logistics infrastructure and patterns that determine the movement of goods and waste, as well as the stakes and criteria of different stakeholders. On this basis, requirements are defined to reduce emissions, resource consumption, improve residents’ quality of life and create socio-economic added value.
