After completing a double MSc in Strategic Energy Management from MGIMO University and Sustainable Development & Energy from the University of St Andrews, Alex worked for the UK’s independent scientific academy, the Royal Society, advising industrial and public sector bodies on science policy. He led the Society’s Low-Carbon Energy Programme, advising the UK Government on green hydrogen and carbon capture and use (CCU).

To broaden his sustainability repertoire, Alex moved to Kenya to consult for start-ups in the off-grid energy space. It was here that he met M-KOPA, a leading fintech enterprise serving off-grid homes with pay-as-you-go (PAYGO) solar products and smartphones. Working in their R&D department, M-KOPA Labs, he honed his product management skills and rolled-out the first affordable solar fridge in East Africa.

… Outside of the office

Alex loves travelling and the great outdoors. He particularly enjoys exploring areas of wilderness, whether it’s a national park or a hidden cove. Depending on the British weather, he is also partial to a game of tennis, golf or cricket.
