Career

Deepali has over 12 years of international work experience having lived, studied, and worked in Asia, Europe, and the United States.

She has extensive experience of e-waste management in India and Europe and has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals on the topic. At United Nations University, she was instrumental in setting up the capacity development activities of the StEP Initiative, a UN-supported forum on the e-waste problem.

Previously, she worked as an expert consultant on internationally funded development projects for the UNEP, the World Bank, and the EMPA (the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology).

At Sofies, she is the Managing Director of Sofies India, as well as senior consultant in the e-waste domain, working with international organizations and multinational companies on compliance, pilot projects, and system setup.

Currently based in Mumbai, she holds a PhD from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, where her thesis was on modeling for forecasting waste flows of end-of-life consumer durables.

Deepali prefers books over movies, mountains over beaches, and yoga over Zumba. She is a vegetarian with a weak spot for Swiss cheese and chocolates. She is always online.
