Context and objectives

The FOEN mandated Sofies to analyze the situation of the waste incineration sector and to identify concrete improvement potentials.

The performed study resulted in:

  • A better understanding of the challenges of the sector and the identification of the fields that can be optimized.
  • A deeper involvement of the municipal waste plants managers and of other actors
  • A series of recommendations to optimize the eco-efficiency of the whole sector
  • A strategy for the implementation of the measures
